Stoychev Will Come to Iran as a Visitor
President of Iran Volleyball federation, Dr. Mohammad Reza Davarzani in a press conference explained to all the people, reporters and those who are waiting to hear the name of the would-be coach of Iran how the tough process of coaching selection is going on. He introduced all the candidates and the long process of negotiating with the world’s prominent coaches. The press conference took place in Football Academy Hotel to remove the concerns of people by informing the procedure of coaching selection.
Iran is seeking an elevated desire to be among the top four teams of 2020 Tokyo and this is why IRIVF should recruit a coach to meet their desires.
Davarzani elaborated: “the head coach of Iran must have the experience of attending in Olympic Games. We need a coach with specific qualifications like accepting to live in Iran away from his family and having no club commitment elsewhere. We even started our discussion with Rezende who has had no desire to be in Asia. We have to choose a coach fitting our targets and ambitions. We have also extended our negotiations to misters Hoag & Anastasi. Mendez was also one of our choices. We then focused on Stoychev in our 15-coach lists.”
He explained the reason why the federation could not come to any conclusion: “Rezende has had no intention to leave Brazil and we received his answer after two months that means it takes us a long time. Hoag liked to work on club level while Mendez has to run Sada Cruzeiro up to 2019. Our talks with Anastasi took forty days but he finally preferred to stay in Gdansk. We reached to a dead end with Stoychev as he said I am not sure I can get on the podium with Iran team. What he answered was not satisfactory, yet I met him in Sofia where he was spending his holiday. I explained him all the conditions and wanted him to visit Iran to evaluate the league and the players closely. He will stay in Tehran for three days to come to the final decision. I hope we can have him as our head coach; yet we have our other options as well. I am doing my best to make you all happy with the final choice.”
