TEHRAN – Mohammadreza Davarzani, head of Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF), has extended his condolence over demise of Iranian legendary singer Mohammadreza Shajarian.

He was an icon of traditional music and universally loved by the Iranians. Born in the holy city of Mashhad in northeast Iran, Shajarian first discovered he had a talent for singing through reciting the Quran.
Rabana (or Our Lord), one of his most famous songs, has for decades been compulsory listening for people waiting to break their fast at iftar during Ramadan.
“The Iranian nation will always keep the name, memory and voice of Shajarian alive in their memory. On behalf of Iran’s volleyball family, I would like to extend my deepest and heartfelt condolence to his family and Iranian people,” Davarzani said.
