18TH ASIAN MEN’S U20 VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The national volleyball team of Iranian juniors are preparing themselves for their sixth medal
in the 18th Asian Junior Volleyball Championship to celebrate their fifteenth presence with a
valuable medal.
Chinese Taipei will host the 18th Asian U-20 Volleyball Championship from 9
th to 17th July.
There are 16 teams in the preliminary round where Iranian juniors are in the same pool with
Qatar, Hong Kong and one team from the central Asia that is not yet decided on. The
preliminary round will start from 9th up to 11th July, the groupings of which are as follows:
Pool I: Chinese Taipei (host), Thailand, Kazakhstan, Myanmar
Pool II: Iran, Qatar, one team from Central Asia, Hong Kong
Pool III: China, Japan, India, and one team from West Asia
Pool IV: South Korea, Bahrain, Sri Lanka, Australia
The 17th edition of Asian U-20 championship (the last one) has been held in 2014 with 20
participating teams in Bahrain, Miami where Iran crowned the championship and is now one
to claim the title in 2016 hereafter all AVC volleyball events are to happen with 16 teams to
elevate the quality of tournaments. In so doing, some series of qualification matches would be
held in advance to issue the passing ticket hence.
Iranian juniors in Asia
Iranian juniors have already made fifteen presence in Asian championship with the total medals
of 5 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze.
South Korea with 6 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze is the most gloriousteam of Asia ahead of Iran.
The next top ranked teams of junior boys goes to Japan (3 gold, 5 silver, 2 bronze), China (3
gold, 4 silver, 5 bronze), and India (2 silver & 3 bronze).
The national juniors of Iran have first participated in this tournament in 1988 when finished
