2017 FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship
Battle in a Death Pool / Iranian Men’s U21 Squad in 11th World Participation
The national volleyball men’s U21 team of Iran will experience their 11th world experience in 2017 with the record of only one medal in the last 10 editions.
As the Public Relations of Volleyball federation reported, World Men’s U21 Volleyball Championship is one of the prestigious arena where the participants will attend with their best roster.
The 19th World Men’s U21 Volleyball Championship will be held from June 23 to July 2 with 16 participating teams in České Budějovice & Brno, Czech Republic.
The national volleyball Junior team of Iran in the preliminary round is in pool C with Italy, Argentina, and Ukraine that is to be called “Death Pool” because there are such powers as the NO.4 team of CEV (Italy), CEV vice-champion (Ukraine), and the champion of South America as well as the vice-champion of 2015 (Argentina).
Preliminary Round
The preliminary round of 19th World Men’s U21 Championship will be held into four four-team pools that are seeded as follows:
Pool A: Czech Republic, Poland, Canada, Morocco
Pool B: Russia, Turkey, Cuba, USA
Pool C: Argentina, Italy, Iran, Ukraine
Pool D: China, Brazil. Egypt, Japan
The Iranian Men’s U21 team obtained one World’s bronze medal in 2007 Morocco where they beat Italy in the classification match.
Russia, the Honorable Team of the World
The Men’s U21 team of Russia have conquered 15 podiums in the world championship (10 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze) in the last 18 editions.
Brazilian Junior boys with 13 medals is the second honorable team of world while Poland with two championships have taken the third place.
South Korea with one gold (1987) and one bronze medal (1981) is the best Asian teams of the world who has jointly taken the world’s fourth place with Bulgaria.
Chinese junior boys in their first attendance in 1977 could achieve the silver medal while in 2015 Mexico finished the 3rd. China, the second best Asian team is the world’s ninth team. The next top Asian teams are Japan (1 silver) and Iran (1 bronze).
Iran in World Men’s U21 Championship
The best ever record of the national junior team of Iran in their world’s participation took place in 2007 in Morocco where they beat Italy to take the bronze medal.
Iranian junior boys was first qualified for the world championship in 1993 when finished the fifth. Both in 2005 (fifth presence) and 2013 (eighth presence), they claimed the fifth.
Tehran host the world Championship in 2003 when Iran earned the 6th place among home crowd, the same rank has been recorded in Brazil 2011 as well.
Iranian juniors made improvement in some editions as they finished ninth in 1997, 8th in 1999, but 7th in 2009.
In the last edition in 2015, Farhad Nafarzadeh drove the team not to a better place than 12th.
