2017 Asian Youth Girls Volleyball Championship
The 11th Girl’s U18 Asian Volleyball Championship – China, 2017
The 11th Girl’s U18 Asian Volleyball Championship will take place from 5 to 13 March in China. The national volleyball girls of Iran are making their fifth presence in this tournament.
This Asian tournament aims to support junior and senior age groups by holding youth championship every two years. China is hosting the 11th edition of tournament this year in Chongqing.
Twelve teams participated in this tournament; the preliminary round of which is composed of four pools:
Pool A: China, Hong Kong, Iran
Pool B: Japan. New Zealand, Samoa
Pool C: Thailand, Kazakhstan, Australia
Pool D: Korea, Taipei, Uzbekistan
By the end of the preliminary round, the top two teams will advance to the next round to fight for the first eight places while the third team will battle for the 9th to 12th places. The top four teams will qualify for World Youth Championship.
Last 10 editions in a Glance:
Nineteen countries have participated in the last ten editions of youth championship. China, Thailand, and Chinese Taipei made continual presence in this tournament while the first-ever appearance is made by Indonesia, and Mongolia.
Japan as the most honorable team of tournament has been present in nines editions prospering to achieve eight gold, six silver, and two bronze medals. Japan achieved the fifth place while being absent in 2003.
China, one of the rival of Iran in the preliminary round this year is the other honorable team that have taken membership in all the last ten editions. In all the last years, china signified four gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.
South Korea with three silver and one bronze is the third honorable team out of the ninth presence. In five editions of this tournament, Korea entitled the fourth place.
Thailand (1 silver & 3 bronze), North Korea (1 silver), Chinese Taipei (3 bronze) are respectively the next titlist teams of Asia.

• The 5th Presence of Iranian Youth Girls in Asian Tournament:
Iranian youth girls have already partaken in four editions, the best rank of whom was the ninth place in 2010. Iran respectively achieved the 11th, 10th, and 10th places in 2008, 2012, and 2014.
Iranian youth girls in their fifth presence are taking part with Majda Cicic, their foreign coach.
Iranian youth girls have held two qualification camps and five preparatory ones at the site of Women’s Volleyball Camp of Iran Volleyball Federation along with one camp in Slovenia to get ready for the Asian Championship.
